Leopard Girl

We had a really nice weekend despite all of the rain. Yes, I talk about the rain and the weather often. I always have, even when I was growing up in sunny Southern California :-) Anyhow, the weekend was filled with a yummy dinner with great friends, a lazy Saturday of football watching in front of a warm cozy fire, a lunch date with daddy, a special donut breakfast and a trip south to visit Ellie's Margie and Gee.

Shirley Temple

Growing up my mom was the queen of amazing homemade costumes. The ideas that she came up with and sewed before the Internet even existed amaze me! She has always been so crafty and I still aspire to be as creative as she is one day. I don't sew (something that I want to change) but I knew that I wanted a cute and different costume for Ellie this year. Last year she was a little lamb and we got her costume at Pottery Barn Kids. It was sweet and adorable, but this year I wanted something that really fit E and her personality. I spent a couple of nights searching Pinterest trying to get some inspiration, but as cute as all the costumes were I didn't find what I was looking for. The Shirley Temple idea finally came to me one day when I was looking at how curly her hair is. I decided to go with  "On the Good Ship Lollipop"  and and one of E's best buddies lent her the perfect sailor dress.

And just for fun- Our little lambie last year ;-)

OOTD -"School" and a Volleyball Game

On Tuesday we had a pretty full day. We went to "school" in the morning and then after nap, Ellie and I went and cheered on my younger sister in her final volleyball game of the season. I love living close enough to be able to go and watch my younger sister and brother's sporting events and Ellie now does too :-)  We are finally getting some true fall weather around here ....some colder temps and lots of rain! It has been fun to transition into sweaters and warm layers.

 Enjoying her first lollipop :-)

 Already a little cheerleader ;-)

Family Pictures

A couple of weeks ago we had some family pictures taken. I still have not seen the ones from the photographer, but we got a couple on our camera. Ellie was not her smiling self that afternoon...she's an active toddler and has her own agenda :-)  After pictures we were heading to a 60th birthday bash so I planned our outfits according to the party attire.

White Denim - Post Labor Day

In our house we don't pay attention to the "no white" rule after Labor Day. Someone once told me that it's a fashion forward, not a fashion faux pas and I have repeated that saying ever since :-) We are trying to get a few more wears out of the white skinny jeans, before they are too small.  Many moms have asked me how Ellie keeps her white jeans clean. The answer is, she doesn't. At the end of the day when we have hit the park or had snacks in the stroller there are always a few stains. I always spray them down with Dreft spray before I put them in the wash and they come out looking as good as new! For music class Ellie this week E wore the white skinnies with a light weight coral jacket. It was the perfect Fall day and this outfit worked great!

Halloween Jammies

There is just something about festive Holiday jammies that I love! E's wardrobe is pretty classic, but  when it comes to pajamas she lets loose a little and wears some more bight colors, prints and sayings than normal:-) She love her skeleton Halloween jammies from Aunt Courto!

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we took an adventure to a near by pumpkin patch. One of the things that I love about where we live is that we are surrounded by such beautiful seasons and scenery. A mere 25 minute drive and we were at the cutest little pumpkin patch :-) We went with Ellie's best buddies, twin girls that are exactly one month younger than E.

 Sweet E.

OOTD - Music Class

Last September Ellie and I started a music class together on Wednesday mornings. One year later, we are still in the same program, we have just moved up to the next age group. Ellie loves singing, dancing and playing instruments in class. I usually try and put Ellie in something pretty comfortable so that it's easy for her to move around and practice those dance moves :-)

A Nautical Nursery

My twin sister, Courteney is pregnant with her first baby, a boy due in the beginning of December! I am so excited to be and Aunt and I can't wait for Ellie to have a little cousin to play with. Unfortunately, Courteney and her husband live all the way across the country so we do not get to see them that often and most of our communication is via the phone or gchat. Our main topic of discussion lately has obviously been the impending arrival of baby B! Courteney and I have always had very similar tastes in clothes and decor, so when she told me she wanted a nautical nursery I was not surprised! She picked the Regatta Collection from Pottery Barn Kids and it's just so New England and perfect for her!

Regatta Nursery Bedding

A couple of weeks ago, Courteney flew out from Boston for the weekend to visit family and friends before the baby is born. My sister and two of our close girlfriends threw her a baby shower and we of course stuck with the nautical theme :-) We had a great time planning all the details and working on some special craft projects that she can potentially use in the nursery. The shower was a complete success and all of our DIY efforts really paid off!

First Day of "School"

Last week Ellie started her first day of "school." It's really more of a mommy and me preschool class, but it still seemed like a big milestone to me! Of course the first day outfit was fun to plan out. At first I was hoping to find a good deal on a cute smocked apple dress, but one just never came along! Instead, we opted for a cute little plaid skirt and button up that I recently purchased at H&M. The skirt is a little big, (H&M kids always runs big) but that just means she will be able to wear it for a while :-) Ellie, was also really excited to wear her new boots. I found them at the Children's Place Outlet and it was perfect because I had a gift card to there that I hadn't used yet!

Summer Staples-Our Two Favs

We are having an Indian summer here in the Pacific Northwest. The leaves are starting to turn, but our afternoons are sunny and beautiful and in the low 70's! E has two staples in her wardrobe that she has worn mutliple times a week for the past couple of months, her denim jacket and her Salt-water sandals.

Summer doesn't really start in our neck of the woods until the end of July. Even when the weather warms up, we still have chilly mornings and evenings around here! The denim jacket is perfect, it's light weight and goes with just about everything except denim color jeans.... E's just not a denim on denim kind of girl :-) I purchased her jacket from Gap in late Spring using a gift card she had received for her birthday. The denim jacket is one of those items that never goes on sale, so I waited until they had a friends and family 30% off promotion!

I have always loved Salt-water sandals and I can remember wearing them myself as a little girl. I like them because they are comfortable and went with her entire summer wardrobe! I went to Nordstrom the Friday before Memorial Day and bought her the sandals in white. I like buying shoes from Nordstrom because they have great customer service and an excellent return policy if something happens to the shoe!
